The Four Astrological Elements

There are four elements of the twelve Zodiac signs; Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Together these elements form the natural world, and each is dependent on the other in some way.

Fire Signs

Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are Fire signs. Personality traits such as vitality, bravery, power, and a zest for life are associated with Fire signs. Fire signs tend to be intense and temperamental. These enthusiastic signs have a sharp mind, diving headlong into the quest for fame and success without necessarily thinking about consequences. Their hot-blooded temper can erupt with passion in an instant, and return to normal just as effortlessly. Fire signs can be selfish, stubborn, insensitive, disagreeable, controlling, and combative.

Water Signs

Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are Water signs. People born under these signs have qualities of intuitive perception with healing qualities. They have an analytical mind and an insatiable desire for the knowledge of the mysteries of life. These may lead to self-sacrifice and wise visionary leadership, or contrastingly, to addictions and manipulation. Water signs are mysterious, ultra-sensitive, secretive, and emotional, and often have intense dreams with psychic intuition.

Earth Signs

Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are Earth signs. Earth is considered the most advantageous and favorable Zodiac element. It gives those under these signs a disciplined personality with an astute mind, patiently, persistently, and thoroughly working toward the goal of success. Earth signs bring us down to earth and remind us to always start with a strong foundation. They are consistent, cautious, and stable but sometimes get caught up in details, failing to see the whole picture.

Air Signs

Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini are Air signs. Those born under the Air sign have a talkative, friendly, strong-willed personality. Air signs are all about action, ideas, and motion. They share traits of being smart, spiritual, and logical. They are also nervous, reticent, and superficial due to deep-thinking on each action they make while looking for its fundamental purpose. Nothing holds their attention for long, and relationships can suffer because of this inconsistency of the mind versus emotion.
