Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez has been available about her emotional health. Now, she has shared her history of depression and suicidal ideas –and how her mental health has influenced her job. reports that Rodriguez got candid about her work and stress at The Kennedy Forum, a mental health seminar. She told NBC’s Kate Snow that while filming the last period of Jane the Virgin she had to take a rest.
“There is a stage at which I could not…push through every single time , and I’m one of those beings… where I am like, I will manage it later. I’ll deal with it. I’ll figure it out after\. I just have to do this today,” she told Snow, per “All the time you’re dealing with your quiet small dragon in mind. Plus it came to a stage, and this season was the season where I had to discontinue production. I had a very tumultuous season, and I had been unafraid for the first time to be like,’I can not.'”

After Snow’s husband, Chris Bro, started up on his own struggles with depression, Rodriguez stated that she, also, could relate. Even the 34-year old performer revealed that she was dealing with depression because she was 16, and she shared that she has experienced suicidal ideas, also. In accordance with HuffPost, she included that social websites enabled her to use her stage to speak about her expertise.
“It started a pathway to let me discuss it openly, to look for aid, to be unafraid,” she clarified.
