How Does ‘The Bachelor’ End? Everything Peter Weber and ABC Have Said

Who in the world ends up with Peter Weber’s final rose?

“I didn’t go into it thinking this has to go unspoiled,” the 28-year-old pilot told E! News in January about the ending. “But just kind of what happens, everyone will see is why I just feel that way. For me, I understand that there’s the group that wants to get all that stuff, but I kind of relate it to football. If you know who wins the Super Bowl at the end, you kind of look at the season a little differently, or you don’t look at it the same at all. So just because of the circumstances, for me it’s cool to know that people can possibly follow me on this journey not knowing how it ends. It’s kind of unique, and that’s the reason I brought it up. But I didn’t intend for it to go that way, it just did.”

Peter encouraged fans to “just enjoy the ride” at the time.

In the promo for the rest of the season, viewers see Chris Harrison tell the pilot that “there is something you should know” before he seemingly proposes to someone.

“Before you do what you’re about to do, there is something you should know,” Harrison says in the clip. ”There’s something I just found out, something all of us found out. I’m not sure how all of this ends, so I just wanted to give you a heads up.”

As a result, Peter breaks down.

“Obviously it’ll all play out and you’ll see what it means,” he told E! News about the teaser. “But that moment was very tough, a very difficult moment for me. That week, hardest week of my life, and you guys will see why.”

While Peter has insisted that the ending won’t leak since the beginning, longtime Bachelor executive producer Martin Hilton told Entertainment Tonight that he isn’t so sure.

“I’m happy he’s confident. In all my years of doing it, it’s always somehow been spoiled,” Hilton said in January. “For me, it’s actually sometimes free publicity, honestly. Because I think people watch anyway, and the same way you know how a Disney movie is going to end when you start watching it, people still watch it, because you want to see the journey. So, that’s what we really focus on. And if we were to get upset about spoilers, then I’d be upset all day long.”

Harrison added: “Peter and I, going through this together, had no idea this was happening and how this was going to all come to an end. It’s riveting, and it really is breathtaking and it’ll break your heart.”

The Bachelor airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. ET. Scroll through for Peter’s reactions to the several fan theories:

The ‘Still Not Over’ Theory

Some viewers are convinced that Peter hasn’t made a decision yet, so that’s how the ending is staying under wraps. “This season is unlike any other. You truly aren’t gonna know how it’s going to end until the very end,” Harrison said on Good Morning America. “It’s possible it’s still not over.”

During an interview with Us in January, the host added: “Peter Weber‘s season is unpredictable and riveting in another way and we don’t see it coming. It’s something that the producers didn’t know about, it’s something Peter and I didn’t know about. … Inevitably, something happens we’ve never dealt with before. It’s gut-wrenching.”

The Producer Theory

Other eagle-eyed fans believe Peter is living happily ever after with … his producer Julie LaPlaca, whom he has shared photos with via social media.

“Well, I hate to get in the way of a good rumor, so I’m not going to confirm or deny about whether he ends up with a producer!” ABC exec Rob Mills told Entertainment Tonight about the theory. “I don’t know how we’d ever top that though! But, it is crazy.”

A source tells Us, however, that there is “no truth to Peter being with Julie.”

“They were friends, but nothing romantic has ever happened between them.” While fans have spotted Peter and Julie hanging out post-production, the source tells Us that they “act like colleagues and friends around each other.”

The Pregnant Theory

Peter called the rumors that one of his contestants is pregnant “hilarious.”

“I’ve heard that. I’ve heard two people might be pregnant,” Peter told Access. “It’s like, whoa, one’s not enough. OK.”

The Hannah Brown Theory

Peter first competed for Hannah Brown’s heart on season 15 of The Bachelorette. After the pageant queen returned during the premiere — and admitted that she made a mistake not picking Peter — some fans are still rooting for the exes to reunite. Hannah, however, confirmed last month that she is single. Peter also shut down the idea when Access asked him about a series of theories.

The Live Ending Theory

Mills seemingly teased that Peter’s finale will play out live. “What we’ve seen about the finale over the years is that the ‘finale’ is really on that night when the show goes live,” he told ET. “There’s a lot of craziness, it’s a roller coaster, but I would say even now the roller coaster hasn’t ended, and it won’t end until after After the Final Rose.

The Single Theory

“It was a tough one, but I followed my heart the entire time,” Peter told ET on February 11. “I can say I am happy right now. I am in a very good spot and you’ll see in a couple more weeks.”

He added: “I’m not saying it’s gonna be similar to any of the previous seasons, but definitely very unique.”

The Actual Ending

“People are really good at speculating. I will say I haven’t heard the actual ending from anyone,” Peter declared after Access read him the theories about the pregnancy,  Hannah and him being alone. He also confirmed that the ending is “unconventional.”
